Day 2: Breaking Bones 2006-11-14 I sawed through a clavicle today. I also cracked three ribs and lifted an entire rib-cage open. Wow. Did I just say that? I cracked someone's ribs and sawed someone's bone? It sounds like I should be going to jail for this. Hmm. Medical school really just feels like a full time adventure. Every single day something totally new and different awaits. Every night I come home and think, wow I cannot believe I just did that today. So, more things we found out about him today: He has very healthy lungs. In fact, he could have had the most healthy lungs of all the cadavers in the room. Probably not a smoker. (Speaking of which: whatever you do, do not smoke, kids. I have now seen smokers' lungs. They should not even be called lungs anymore.) Another small observation: he seems to have had an appendectomy on superficial examination of the abdomen.
