Day 9: Cause of Death
2006-12-01

The built muscles and healthy organs led us to believe that he was at most 50 years old. The cause of death was near mystery to us because we could not see a single thing that was wrong with him. That led us to go off on a tangent and suspect crime (poisoned by someone or gun shot through head).

Today, we were totally taken by surprise when we found out that he was not 50, but 83 years old, and he died by cardiomyopathy. Firstly, trust me, never have I seen a more built 83-year-old. Secondly, his heart totally looked normal and healthy to us. Maybe cardiomyopathy cannot be identified with the naked eye. Maybe it simply is another way of saying that he died of old age. Maybe it was just his time to go.

Anyway, today we did the posterior abdominal wall. Traced out some major muscles, including one with the cool-sounding name: quadratum lumborum. I like that. Another neat thing was the long flat tendon of the psoas minor. Believe it or not, there is this really-long-totally-synthetic-looking-shiny-tough band streching down your mid to lower back. It may mean I am a toal geek but when I saw this tendon, I said WOW.

Out to paint the town red tonight. Ciao.
